Your health is an extremely important aspect of your life. That is why many people are now looking to the benefits of taking out individual health insurance in order to be certain that should they or a member of their family fall ill or become injured, they can obtain the best treatment available, promptly.

Individual Health Insurance removes many of the worries that otherwise occur when you fall ill. Typically, these are:

  • Waiting for weeks on end to see a consultant
  • Being stuck on a long waiting list for surgery – possibly for months
  • Enduring constant discomfort and pain, and not knowing when you will be treated
  • Concern that your condition may worsen whilst waiting for treatment

Whether you already have, or are considering, private health insurance, it is very important that you take advice on the most suitable cover for your current circumstance, and that it is fully reviewed every year. Individual healthcare policies fall into three categories:

  • Budget individual health insurance cover: With this type of policy, normally only inpatient and day care treatment is covered. This is when you are allocated a bed for treatment for an operation. Outpatient costs such as consultant fees and diagnostic tests are not covered.
  • Standard individual health insurance cover: This type of policy offers an additional amount of outpatient cover such as consultations; diagnostic tests; scans; radiotherapy and chemotherapy; plus complementary medicine such as physiotherapy; osteopathy, visits to a chiropractor and homeopathy. The amount of outpatient cover is usually limited to between £300 and £2000 per member per year, depending on the Insurer and the plan.
  • Comprehensive Individual health insurance cover: These policies are the most wide-ranging, offering full cover, usually without any monetary limits, on the outpatient cover together with full inpatient cover. MRI/CT scans, complementary medicine and many other benefits are included and additional advantages such as dental, worldwide travel and psychiatric cover can be added. The comprehensive plan is an excellent choice if you require complete peace of mind.

It is clearly important to choose the product that best suits your own needs and budget – and we can help you do that.
